The third round of the Premier League starts on Saturday afternoon with a game in South East England: Brighton & Hove Albion will then be visited by Manchester United in their own American Express Community Stadium. For Brighton, the match with Manchester United will be the third league game of the season. The Graham Potter team started the Premier League just under two weeks ago with an unjustified 1-3 defeat against Chelsea. Last weekend, however, Brighton recovered by booking a handsome 0-3 victory over Newcastle United. In between these two league games, The Seagulls also won 4-0 against Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup. On Wednesday evening, a heavily modified Brighton achieved another success in the Carabao Cup by beating Preston North End 0-2.
On a visit to Preston North End, former Eredivisie players Joel Veltman, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Davy Pröpper could count on a base place at Brighton. Jahanbakhsh even scored the opening goal on Deepdale, but will sit on the bench against Manchester United with Veltman and Pröpper. Against Manchester United, Potter seems to be sticking to the side that gave him a 0-3 win at Newcastle United, with suspended Yves Bissouma replaced by Adam Lallana. In its current form, Brighton is still not a favorite for the duel with Manchester United, but a big defeat is also not expected.
Manchester United:
Manchester United started the competition last weekend with a downer. At Old Trafford, the team of Ole Gunnar Solskjær lost 1-3 against Crystal Palace. It was only the first league game for Manchester United this season, but at home a club like Manchester United must take three points against Crystal Palace. That defeat may show that Manchester United are not ready to really compete for the title at the moment.
